Village Lakes Yard of the Month Program Announcement

A great yard and curb appeal is not only vital to maintaining good appearance in our community, it also helps to preserve property values. Village Lakes wants to encourage residents to take pride in their properties and is pleased to announce the launch of the Village Lakes Yard of the Month program, effective May 23, 2022. The program will run from May to September each year.

Your board of directors will make rounds throughout the Village the 3rd weekend of every month to identify nominees. Winners will be selected by the end of each month, by a majority vote of the board of directors, and will receive a $50 Visa/Mastercard gift card. A Village Lakes "Yard of the Month Sign" will also be displayed in the winner's yard for approximately 1 month. Board members are ineligible to receive this award while serving on the board.

Below are the criteria for nominations for Yard of the Month:

  1. Lawns must be healthy-looking, mowed, neatly edged, and as weed-free as possible. That includes the curb areas where sidewalks exist.
  2. There should be no grass or weeds growing at the separation points of the driveway and sidewalk areas.
  3. Shrubs and trees should be healthy-looking, and shrubs neatly trimmed with bed areas edged and mulched.
  4. Flower beds, borders or other enhancements must be weed-free and add to the overall favorable curb appeal of the property.
  5. Any HOA violations would cause a property to become ineligible for nomination.

Photographs of winning yards will be posted on the Village Lakes HOA website. A yard may only receive this award once per year.
